Press Release | GBA Announces Results of 2019 Board of Directors Election

December 18, 2018–The Green Button Alliance (GBA), which fosters the development, compliance, and widespread adoption of the Green Button standard, today announced the results of its third annual Board of Directors election. John Anderson, Director of Energy Markets at OhmConnect, Inc. was elected to serve in a two-year seat and Bill Pfister, Financial Analysis Director, Edison Electric Institute (EEI) will serve in a one-year seat. The new directors will commence their positions on the Green Button Alliance’s board on January 1st, 2019. The GBA’s board collaborates to broaden energy- and water-utility adoption of standards-based Green Button data technologies that enable utilities around the world to offer secure, customer data-access and -sharing platforms and a variety of new digital services that leverage standardized Green Button customer data.

About Green Button Standards

The Green Button Download My Data (DMD) method of usage-information access enables homeowners and property managers to download their electricity-, natural gas-, or water-usage data from their utility’s website in a computer-readable XML format by clicking a virtual Green Button. Utility customers can easily access their historical and current usage data, analyze trends, and make informed resource -management choices.

Extending upon the Green Button DMD process, the Green Button Connect My Data (CMD) method allows customers to authorize secure, automatic transfers of their electricity-, natural gas-, or water-usage data to web and mobile apps for computers, tablets, and smart phones to enable them to efficiently manage and conserve their resource usage. By using standardized Green Button technology, third-party developers can more-rapidly create and offer products, services, and applications that will work with other Green Button implementations. To ensure utility-offered solutions will comply to the Green Button standard, the Green Button Alliance offers the Green Button Testing Program for data custodians. The Energy Services Provider Interface (ESPI) standard for Green Button is published by the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).
