Professional Bio
James “Jay” Lewis is the CEO of Big Data Energy Services (BDES), where he is responsible for developing and executing the company’s growth strategy in the evolving energy industry using Data, Machine Learning and AI.
Prior to that role, Jay was the former President and Co-CEO of a large, publicly traded, retail-energy company with over $4 billion in annual revenue.
Jay’s experience includes working for Fortune 10 companies, as well as growing start-up organizations. In addition, through his work on public, nonprofit and private boards, Jay has an in-depth understanding of strategic planning and execution, sound corporate-governance practices, and strong capital-allocation discipline.
Jay is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and is an NACD Governance Fellow. He currently sits on the boards of Chinquapin Preparatory School and Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (Texas).
He has served as CEO Panelist for the Energy Thought Leadership Summit in 2018. He was a Panel Member for the Congressional Black Caucus: Energy Summit in Washington, D.C. in 2017 as well as for National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Conference, in 2016.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Engineering & a Master of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology (New Jersey), and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he was also a Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management Fellow.
